New Brunswick has recorded a 6.3 per cent drop in its unemployment rate for the first time since February, bringing its total to 690,000.
The rate fell to 6 per cent from 6.6 per cent in the previous month.
Unemployment in the New Brunswick region of New Brunswick fell from 7.3 to 6% in the first nine months of 2018.
New Brunswick is the only province in the country with a jobless rate of less than 6 per 10,000 people.
The unemployment rate in the rest of the country, however, remains well above 10 per cent.
The jobless count is now below 2.8 per cent, and a recent poll of the region’s businesses found that only one in five of them believes the region is on track to achieve its goal of having one million jobs by 2021.
